Using Parboxes

The feature described below is available by subscription. It can be tried out for free in the Play Area.

Paragraph Boxes (Parboxes) are used to group question elements (such as quoted text, tables or figures) together in the same layout, or highlight them with a border. Parboxes give you design flexibility. Each question may have any number of Parboxes.

Add a Paragraph Box

Write a new question or edit an existing one, then follow the steps below.

  1. Click Paragraph Box.

  2. A Parbox will appear, outlined in gray.

  3. Add content to the Parbox — text, tables, images, special objects such as icons, other nested paragraph boxes, or math formulas.

Note:You can use the editor’s toolbar options to format the text in the Parbox. Or, for additional options which are not in the toolbar, such as borders or shading, right-click inside the Parbox and select Parbox Advanced from the pop-up menu.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Important! By default, when you edit a problem, the changes affect all occurrences of that problem in other documents, including documents you’ve shared. If you are trying to clone a problem, or if you don’t want your changes to affect other documents, be sure to select the option at the bottom-left of the editor, “Save as new problem”.
